1. State true or false.

a. Each angle of a rectangle is a right angle.

Ans: A rectangle is a quadrilateral with equal opposite sides. The given statement is true because the adjacent sides of the rectangle are perpendicular to each other.

b. The opposite sides of a rectangle are equal in length.

Ans: A parallelogram is a quadrilateral with parallel and equal opposite sides. A rectangle is a specific type of parallelogram because the rectangle also has an equal length of opposite sides. Hence, the given statement is true.

c. The diagonals of a square are perpendicular to one another.

Ans: A square is a quadrilateral with equal sides. The given statement is true because diagonals of a square bisect each other at $90^\circ $.

d. All the sides of a rhombus are of equal length.

Ans: A rhombus is a special case of squares because a rhombus has equal sides and all angles equal to $90^\circ $. The given statement is true because rhombus is a special square.

e. All the sides of a parallelogram are of equal length.

Ans: The given statement is false because only the opposite sides of a parallelogram are equal and parallel.

f. The opposite sides of a trapezium are parallel.

Ans: A trapezium is a quadrilateral with one pair of opposite sides equal and parallel. Hence, the given statement is false.

2. Give reasons for the following.

a. A square can be thought of as a special rectangle.

Ans: A square is considered as a special rectangle because its all angles are right angles and opposite sides are equal.

b. A rectangle can be thought of as a special parallelogram.

Ans: A rectangle is considered as a special parallelogram because its opposite sides are equal and parallel.

c. A square can be thought of as a special rhombus.

Ans: A square is considered as a special rhombus because its four sides are equal and diagonals are perpendicular to one another.

d. Squares, rectangles, parallelograms are all quadrilateral.

Ans: A polygon with four sides is called a quadrilateral. Here, observe that square, rectangle and parallelogram all are four-sided polygons. Hence, they are quadrilaterals.

e. Square is also a parallelogram.

Ans: We know that the opposite sides of a parallelogram are equal and parallel. Similarly, the opposite sides of the square are equal and parallel. Hence, square is also a parallelogram.

3. A figure is said to be regular if its sides are equal in length and angles are equal in measure. Can you identify the regular quadrilateral?

Ans: A square has sides of equal length and angles of equal measure. Also, the square is a quadrilateral. So, we can say that the regular quadrilateral described in the question is a square.
