Answer: Chand Bibi

Explanation:

Chand Bibi was the brave queen of Ahmednagar who courageously stood against the mighty Mughal Emperor Akbar during the late 16th century. Born around 1550, she was a remarkable woman who became one of the most celebrated female warriors in Indian history.

Chand Bibi was originally from the Bijapur Sultanate and was married to Ali Adil Shah I of Bijapur. After her husband's death, she became actively involved in the politics of the Deccan region. When her nephew Bahadur Nizam Shah of Ahmednagar died, she became the regent and effectively ruled the kingdom to protect it from external threats.

The conflict with Akbar began when the Mughal emperor launched his Deccan campaigns to expand his empire southward. Ahmednagar was one of the primary targets due to its strategic location and wealth. Chand Bibi recognized the threat and prepared her kingdom for a fierce resistance against the Mughal forces.

Her most famous military achievement was the successful defense of Ahmednagar fort in 1595. When Akbar's forces, led by his son Prince Murad and other generals, besieged the fort, Chand Bibi personally led the defense. She is said to have fought with great valor, even personally operating cannons from the fort walls. Her determined resistance forced the Mughals to eventually negotiate and sign a treaty.

Unfortunately, Chand Bibi's story ended tragically in 1599. During a second Mughal siege of Ahmednagar, she was killed by her own soldiers who suspected her of planning to surrender the fort to the enemy. This accusation was likely false, as she had proven her loyalty and courage repeatedly in defending her kingdom.

Chand Bibi's legacy continues to inspire people even today. She is remembered as a symbol of courage, resistance, and women's empowerment in medieval India. Her story demonstrates how she successfully challenged one of the most powerful emperors of her time and proved that determination and strategic thinking could stand against seemingly impossible odds.
