Answer: Gujarat

Explanation:

The Statue of Unity is located in Gujarat, specifically in the Kevadia area near the Sardar Sarovar Dam on the Narmada River. This magnificent monument stands as a tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India's first Deputy Prime Minister, who was fondly known as the "Iron Man of India" for his role in uniting the princely states after independence.

Standing at an impressive height of 182 meters (597 feet), the Statue of Unity holds the distinction of being the world's tallest statue. To put this in perspective, it's nearly twice the height of the Statue of Liberty in New York. The statue was inaugurated on October 31, 2018, which coincides with Sardar Patel's birth anniversary, celebrated as National Unity Day in India.

The choice of Gujarat as the location for this monument is particularly significant because Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was born in Nadiad, Gujarat, and spent much of his early life in the state. The location near the Sardar Sarovar Dam is especially meaningful as Patel had envisioned this dam project for the development of Gujarat and neighboring states.

The statue was designed by Indian sculptor Ram V. Sutar and constructed by Larsen & Toubro, with the bronze cladding work done by Jiangxi Toqine Company of China. The project took approximately four years to complete and cost around ₹2,989 crores. The statue is built to withstand earthquakes and high wind speeds, making it structurally sound for the region's geographical conditions.

Beyond being just a statue, the Statue of Unity has become a major tourist destination in Gujarat. The complex includes a museum, exhibition hall, and a viewing gallery at 153 meters height that offers breathtaking views of the Sardar Sarovar Dam and the surrounding Satpura and Vindhya mountain ranges. The site also features a valley of flowers, river cruise facilities, and the world's fastest high-speed elevator that takes visitors to the viewing gallery in just 30 seconds.
