• Structure of Atom: Sub-atomic particles (electrons, protons, neutrons), atomic models, valency, atomic & mass number, isotopes & isobars.

Unit II: Organisation in the Living World

• Cell: Basic unit of life, prokaryotic & eukaryotic cells, multicellular organisms, cell membrane & wall, organelles (chloroplast, mitochondria, vacuoles, ER, Golgi, nucleus), chromosomes.

• Tissues: Plant tissues (meristematic & permanent), animal tissues (four basic types).

• (Formative Only): Health & Diseases – infectious vs non-infectious diseases, causes, prevention, microbial diseases (virus, bacteria, protozoa), treatment principles, Pulse Polio programme.
