Category-wise Karnataka NEET MBBS Cut Off Marks, Ranks & Trends 2026

The NEET 2026 cutoff for Karnataka is the minimum rank and score at which the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) grants admission to MBBS and BDS courses in government and private medical colleges across the state. The cutoff is released separately for each course, category, college, and counselling round.

Candidates who have appeared in NEET UG 2026 can use Karnataka's previous year cutoff data, available in this article, to estimate the rank and score needed to secure a seat in their preferred college and course.

The Karnataka NEET cutoff 2026 depends on the following key factors:

  • Total number of NEET 2026 applicants

  • Difficulty level of the NEET 2026 question paper

  • Scores and overall performance of candidates in NEET 2026

  • Total MBBS and BDS seat matrix in Karnataka for 2026

  • Number of candidates registered for Karnataka KEA counselling

NEET 2026 Cutoff Karnataka:  Two Quota Types

The Karnataka NEET 2026 cutoff is published under two separate quotas:

1. All India Quota (AIQ): 15% Seats. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) releases the NEET cutoff for 15% AIQ seats in Karnataka. The AIQ cutoff includes the All India Rank (AIR) and the corresponding marks scored in NEET 2026. Candidates from any state can compete for these seats.

2. State Quota:  85% Seats Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) releases the NEET cutoff for 85% MBBS and BDS seats under the state merit list. The state quota cutoff applies only to Karnataka domicile candidates. It includes the course name, college name, category, last admitted rank, and corresponding NEET score.

Factors Affecting NEET 2026 Karnataka Cutoff

The NEET 2026 cutoff in Karnataka is not fixed and can shift from year to year. Key factors that determine where the cutoff lands include:

  • Number of applicants: A higher number of NEET 2026 registrations in Karnataka increases competition, which generally pushes cutoff ranks lower (i.e., more competitive).

  • Difficulty of the NEET 2026 paper: If the paper is harder, overall scores drop, which may ease the rank-based cutoff for certain colleges. An easier paper raises competition at the top ranks.

  • Seat matrix: Any increase in MBBS or BDS seats in Karnataka colleges for 2026 could result in a slightly relaxed cutoff compared to the previous year.

  • Category reservation: Seats are reserved for SC, ST, OBC, EWS, and PwBD categories. The cutoff for each category is determined by the last rank at which a seat is allotted in that particular category.

  • Counselling participation: The number of candidates who register for KEA counselling and participate in seat allotment rounds directly impacts the final closing rank.

Karnataka NEET Counselling 2026 – Overview

Karnataka NEET 2026 admissions are conducted through two separate counselling processes:

KEA Karnataka Counselling (85% State Quota) Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) manages state quota admissions for Karnataka domicile candidates. KEA counselling typically consists of multiple rounds: Round 1, Round 2, and a Mop-up Round. Candidates must register on the KEA portal, upload documents, pay the registration fee, fill college preferences, and report for seat allotment.

MCC AIQ Counselling (15% AIQ Seats) The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) conducts counselling for 15% All India Quota seats in Karnataka government and deemed medical colleges. MCC counselling is open to candidates from all states and is conducted online through the MCC portal.

Key documents required for Karnataka NEET counselling 2026:

  • NEET 2026 admit card and scorecard

  • Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets and certificates

  • Karnataka domicile / residence certificate (for KEA state quota)

  • Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS if applicable)

  • PwBD certificate (if applicable)

  • Photo ID proof (Aadhaar, passport, etc.)

  • Passport-size photographs

Tips to Improve Your Chances Against NEET 2026 Karnataka Cutoff

  • Score above 600 to target government MBBS seats: Top government medical colleges in Karnataka such as Bangalore Medical College and MMCRI Mysore typically close within the top 5,000 ranks, requiring NEET scores above 600.

  • Target mid-range government colleges with a score of 500–580: Colleges like Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (Hubli), JJM Medical College (Davangere), and Vijayanagar Institute of Medical Sciences (Bellary) have historically closed between ranks 8,000–25,000.

  • Private college seats are available at wider rank bands: Many private colleges in Karnataka accept candidates with ranks up to 50,000 and beyond. Explore these options if your rank falls outside the government college range.

  • Register for both KEA and MCC counselling: Do not limit yourself to one quota. Register for both KEA state quota and MCC AIQ counselling to maximise your chances of seat allotment.

  • Fill preferences strategically: Research college reputation, infrastructure, faculty, and hostel facilities before filling your preference list. Prioritise government colleges first, followed by private aided, and then unaided colleges.
