Why Was NEET UG 2026 Cancelled?

NTA cancelled NEET UG 2026 after a major paper leak controversy surfaced during the investigation process. According to official reports, a “guess paper” containing more than 400 questions was allegedly circulated before the examination.

Investigation agencies found that several Biology questions closely matched the actual NEET UG 2026 question paper. This raised serious concerns about the fairness, transparency, and equal opportunity in examinations.

Following recommendations from investigation authorities and approval from the Government of India, NTA officially cancelled the examination to maintain the integrity of the national-level medical entrance exam.

CBI Investigation & Paper Leak Case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has officially registered a case related to the NEET UG 2026 paper leak matter.

The investigation includes:

  • Criminal conspiracy

  • Cheating and unfair practices

  • Leakage of confidential examination material

  • Financial transactions linked to the paper leak network

  • Destruction of evidence

Multiple suspects have reportedly been arrested, and the investigation is ongoing across multiple states.

Authorities have also stated that organised groups were allegedly involved in circulating confidential examination content in exchange for money.

NTA is currently cooperating with the investigating agencies by sharing examination records, digital logs, and technical data required for the inquiry.
