How to Register for JoSAA Counselling 2026 and Fill Choices?
Students participating in JoSAA counselling 2026 must complete registration and choice filling through the official JoSAA portal. The process is fully online and includes candidate verification, login creation, choice selection, and choice locking. Students should also refer to the JoSAA opening and closing ranks for 2026 while filling in choices to understand their admission chances at IITs, NITs, IIITs, and other participating institutes.
Step 1: New Candidate Registration
Candidates must first complete new registration on the JoSAA portal.
Click on the New Candidate Registration link.
Enter JEE Main 2026 application number, date of birth, candidate name, and mother’s name.
Submit the details and verify the OTP sent to the registered email ID and mobile number.
Create a new password for the JoSAA candidate portal.
Proceed to login after successful registration.
Step 2: Log in to the JoSAA Candidate Portal
After registration, candidates can log in to the JoSAA 2026 portal.
Use the JEE Main 2026 application number and the newly created JoSAA password.
Verify the OTP sent to the registered email ID and mobile number.
Read all important instructions carefully.
Check the details displayed on the portal.
Confirm registration if all details are correct.
Use the edit option if any allowed detail needs correction.
Step 3: Fill in the Institute and Branch Choices
Once the JoSAA counselling 2026 registration is confirmed, candidates can begin filling their choices.
Select institute type, institute name, and academic programme from the available list.
Verify through OTP before starting choice filling.
Use the add option to include preferred choices in the list.
Arrange choices in the order of preference.
Add as many eligible choices as possible to improve your chances of allotment.
Check JoSAA counselling 2026 opening and closing ranks before finalising choices.
Step 4: Review and Lock Choices
Candidates must review their filled choices carefully before the last date.
Check college order, branch preference, rank chances, category, and seat availability.
Lock the choices before June 11.
Choice locking is mandatory.
If a candidate does not manually lock their choices, the last saved choices will be auto-locked.
The locked or auto-locked choices will be used for seat allotment in all counselling rounds.
