  • Terminating and non-terminating decimals.

  • Laws of exponents and use of rational exponents.


Unit II: Algebra

1. Polynomials

  • Definition, degree, types (linear, quadratic, cubic, monomial, binomial, trinomial).

  • Zeros of a polynomial, Remainder Theorem, Factor Theorem.

  • Factorisation of quadratic and cubic polynomials.

  • Algebraic identities up to degree three.

2. Linear Equations in Two Variables

  • General form: ax + by + c = 0.

  • Graphical representation of solutions.

  • Understanding that equations in two variables have infinitely many solutions.

Unit III: Coordinate Geometry

  • Introduction to the Cartesian plane.

  • Coordinates of a point, terms, and notations.

Unit IV: Geometry

1. Euclid’s Geometry

  • History of geometry in India & Euclid’s contributions.

  • Axioms, postulates, and basic theorems.


2. Lines and Angles

  • Properties of vertically opposite angles.

  • Linear pairs and parallel lines.


3. Triangles

  • Criteria of congruence: SAS, ASA, SSS, RHS.

  • Properties of isosceles triangles.


4. Quadrilaterals

  • Properties of parallelograms.

  • Mid-point theorem.


5. Circles

  • Properties of chords, angles, and cyclic quadrilaterals.


Unit V: Mensuration

1. Areas

  • Heron’s Formula for the area of a triangle.


2. Surface Areas and Volumes
